Child Development Center

We are here to:

  • Provide for the care and education of young children while their parents attend school or are employed by Grossmont College.
  • Serve as an observation and participation lab for Grossmont College students.
  • Provide a model childcare center for the community.

The Center is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children and a model training site for the California Department of Education Program for Infant Toddler Caregivers.

Enrollment Eligibility and Procedures

The center is available to families of students, staff, and faculty of Grossmont College. The center is open according to the academic calendar.

In order to receive childcare services as a student you must:

  • Be enrolled in at least 6 units a semester.
  • Present an academic plan signed by a college counselor.
  • Be making progress toward an academic goal with at least a 2.0 GPA.
  • Have your academic progress checked during the semester.
  • Students enrolled in evening, Saturday and online classes may receive care for study time during the open hours of the center.

Grossmont College employees must present proof of employment.

Center Policies are in the Parent Handbook.

Waiting Pool Application

All families wishing to enroll their children must fill out a waiting pool application. Once application is completed, submit to The Child Development Center office or The Child Development Center mailbox in the Business Office. Applications are kept for one year and must be renewed every April. Funding for child care comes from many sources. Low income families may be eligible for free or partially subsidized child care. Individuals in the waiting pool will only be contacted if accepted.

For Center Information:
