A History of Growth

Opened in 1964, Grossmont College was originally planned to accommodate 4,800 students. Over time, enrollment has grown to over 16,000. In 1978, a second college opened to serve the people of east San Diego County, Cuyamaca College south of El Cajon. Jointly administered as the Grossmont Cuyamaca Community College District, these two schools together enroll over 25,000 students annually.
