The Assistive Technology Center (ATC) empowers students with disabilities to achieve their goals and independence on the computer. Assistive technology is hardware or software that helps people with disabilities to use a computer, and the ATC provides a wide variety of assistive products such as screen magnifiers for students with low vision, screen readers for students who are blind, scan and read systems to help students with learning disabilities read more effectively, voice recognition systems to assist with writing and data entry, plus many alternative input devices that offer improved accessibility over a standard keyboard and mouse. During our open lab hours, Accessibility Resource Center students are welcome to come in and work on their class assignments.
Please be aware that lab computers are monitored for appropriate use. All students must follow appropriate computer usage as outlined by the District in the Computer and Network Use Procedure AP 3720. Use of GCCCD Property, and in particular this Computer Lab, indicates awareness, understanding and an agreement to comply with all applicable policies and procedures. Failure to comply with GCCCD Policies and Procedures may result in disciplinary action in accordance with Board Policy and the Student Discipline Procedures Handbook. Students are strongly encouraged to use their lab time wisely and effectively.
