Specialized Classes and Programs

A.R.C. offers a variety of classes that provide students with instruction and practical experience in developing compensatory strategies. Students will learn to use appropriate assistive technology to facilitate their access to educational materials and environments.

These courses are intended to enhance students' opportunities for academic success.

Current Course Offerings

Adapted Exercise Science

The intent of these courses is to help students with disabilities maintain and improve their physical stamina and skill. Adapted exercise science classes meet the general education requirements for an associate degree.

Developmental Writing

Computer-assisted instruction is provided to students in all phases of the writing process, from idea generation to revision. Course assignments are intended to prepare students to enroll in developmental writing courses.

Math Strategies Instruction

Specialized instruction for students with learning disabilities is provided in applied study strategies to enhance students' academic success in math courses.

Study Skills and Strategies

Students are taught key academic success skills and strategies in such areas as time management, study skills, reading, note-taking, memory, and test-taking.
