Jim Spillers became Grossmont's Associate Dean for Athletics in July of 2005. Spillers is oversees the college's 16 intercollegiate teams with an annual budget of $879,000.
In 2014 Grossmont captured the DeVore Award as the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference's most successful program in the 2013-14 school year.
"I'm so proud because this is a team award that was earned by the staff, coaches and student-athletes," said Spillers.
Spillers came to Grossmont from San Diego State University, where he was Associate Athletic Director for Facilities and Operations as well as an assistant track coach.
"I am looking forward to moving from one great experience to a great opportunity at Grossmont," Spillers said upon his hiring. "I am also looking forward to providing leadership to keep Griffin programs flourishing in keeping with a fantastic tradition."
Nearly 500 student-athletes participate in nine women's and seven men's teams.
Spillers is an SDSU graduate, where he competed in track and field, and is also a graduate of California community colleges.
