Step 1

Use your compass to draw a circular arc with center at A and with radius roughly 2/3 of the line segment AB.

The exact size of the radius is not important as long as it is longer than 1/2 of AB, but the longer the more accurate the final product will be.

Step 2

Use exactly the same radius (i.e. keeping the same setting on the compass) to draw a half circular arc centering at B.

This new arc should cross the previous one at two points as indicated on the diagram.

Step 3

Draw a line connecting the two intersection points of the two circular arcs.
