Griffins send 4 players to universitiesEL CAJON - Head Coach Karen Caires announced today that four members of her 2013-14 squad signed on to play for four-year universities in the fall.Bethesda University in Anaheim CA will look like Grossmont to the north with three Griffins joining the program in the fall of 2014. Jonalynn Fuertes, Jessica Bautista and Lucille Gleason all signed to play for Flames coach Jason Pruitt, who came down Grossmont to join the signing. Kaila Britten will head to the sunshine state on a full ride scholarship to Barry University in Miami Shores, Florida to play for coach Bill Sullivan. "This is a great day for our program," said Caires. "It is so rewarding to see players like Jonalynn, Jessica, Lucy and Kaila come through our program, work hard as student athletes, and achieve their goals." |

| Griffins take down Seahawks Box Score EL CAJON (11/19/13) - Grossmont College Women's basketball team defeated the LA Harbor Seahawks on Tuesday at the Griffin Arena by a score of 75-48. Five Griffins (4-1) tallied double figures in scoring led by freshman guard Kayla Rivera with 17 points. Fellow freshman Jasmine Patrick recorded her second double-double of the season with 10 points and 13 rebounds in 19 minutes. This is the third game of five played that Patrick has registered double figures in rebounds. The Griffins had a 2-0 lead prior to the tip, as LA Harbor (0-2) was assessed an administrative technical foul for having an ineligible roster number. Crystal Dilworth was wearing the number 8, which by CCCAA rules is not allowed. After the tip, Grossmont jumped out to a 10-7 lead with 15:09 remaining in the first half. Over a seven minute stretch the Griffins ran off a 14-1 run to take a 32-11 lead with two minutes left in the half. At intermission, the Griffins had a 39-15 advantage. Coming out of halftime, the Griffins struggled to keep the momentum as LA Harbor came out and made it look like they were going to try and get back into the contest. The Seahawks got to within 18, but that would be as close as they would get at the 15:27 mark. Another Grossmont run (16-4) in the middle portion of the half, along with another 14-8 run pretty much wrapped up the game for the Griffins. The road beckons the team on Friday, when Grossmont travels to Citrus College for a 5:00 tip-off against the Owls. Citrus is 0-2 after participating in the 15th Annual Rose City Classic at Pasadena City College this past weekend. |
