College Wide Online / Off-Campus Professional Development Opportunities

Below are professional development resources that have been vetted by the Professional Development Office and the College Wide Professional Development Committee, and can be used to satisfy your professional development obligation.

Some events listed here may have a cost associated with them. Please follow the guidelines for applying for Professional Development Funds as well as offsite travel if you wish to use those to offset the cost of attending any of these events.

Online Learning Module - Kognito

Kognito -Kognito is designed to educate our faculty, staff, and students about best practices in supporting (1) students who struggle with psychological distress including depression and suicidal ideation, (2) LGBTQ students who are struggling due to harassment or exclusion, and (3) student veterans who are facing challenges in adjusting to college life. Learning Module - Student Learning Outcomes (SLO)

Student Learning Outcomes
This is an online workshop provided by Jennifer Carmean using her years of experience as the SLO Coordinator at Grossmont College. The workshop contains three modules: 1) An overview of SLOs, 2) How to write an SLO, and 3) Assessing an SLO. The workshop is helpful to faculty and staff covering all types of SLOs (instructional, student services, and administrative services).

The SLO modules are done in Canvas; when you click on the link below you log into Canvas. In the upper right corner choose "Continue to course." Three hours of credit for faculty are available upon completion.

Online Learning Module - Student Mental Health
Student Mental Health - The CCC SMHP is a partnership between the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office (CCCCO) and the Foundation for Community Colleges (FCCC). An interdisciplinary advisory group, named the Chancellor’s Office Advisory Group on Student Mental Health (COAGSMH) has been established to provide guidance and input on the CCC SMHP. The utilization of distance learning tools is an integral part of the technical assistance and training services. As part of the CCC SMHP TTA Project, webinars on relevant topics will be offered and marketed to the CCC system on a regular basis. Registration: Click here

The California Community College Professional Learning Network is an online learning resource for all California Community College staff, faculty and administrators to use. 4CSD - California Community College Council on Staff and Organizational Development

What is 4CSD?

The California Community College Council for Staff and Organizational Development is an organization that provides training resources and networking opportunities for staff development professionals of the California community colleges.
Among the many services it provides, 4CSD :
  • Promotes leadership in staff, program, and organizational development
  • Provides education for the staff developers regarding the principles of staff and organizational development.
  • Provides training in developing, implementing, and evaluating effective staff development programs.
  • Provides regional and statewide workshops and conferences.
  • Serves as a liaison between the State Chancellor’s office and the colleges regarding staff development issues and serves as an advocate for Staff Development concerns.
