How Can I Speak to a Counselor?

How to Register for Classes

 

eCOUNSELING

eCounseling is for quick questions regarding current information, such as, summer/fall registration dates and form processing assistance. These are quick question and answer sessions, and are NOT designed for intensive information. No transcripts will be pulled. This can take up to 1-2 business days (Monday-Thursday) for a response. NOTE: If we are unable to fully respond to your questions, we will refer you to Ask a Counselor or to schedule an appointment.

  • Quick questions, no transcripts will be available

  • Unit Overload Petition
    ***Students seeking Overload Authorization, may do so within Ask a Counselor. You will need to identify the course title, number of units and 4-digit section number. This will also need to be an OPEN section, as we cannot authorize overload onto a WAITLIST.  Please also include the number of units in which your are already enrolled.

ASK A COUNSELOR

Ask a Counselor can provide a bit more information than eAdvising. Transcripts can be pulled. This can take up to 2-3 business days (Monday-Thursday) for a response.

VIRTUAL APPOINTMENTS (How To Schedule)

Virtual Appointments are appointments with a counselor for all students. This is a virtual appointment using ZOOM, which is an interactive live meeting with a counselor. If you are an UMOJA or Via Rapida student, please select from those appointments. All others select General Counseling. Please include the nature of your appointment in the “Comments” section. 

  • 30-minute or 1-hour Appointments
  • Comprehensive Educational Plan (non-registration periods)
  • Consortium Agreement (Deadline: Nov. 6, 2020 - Consortium Agreement
  • Max Unit Financial Aid Petition (1-hour appointment required - Max Unit Petition)
  •  Transfer/Graduation Planning
     NOTE: Appointments fill up very quickly during registration periods. They are open every Monday 
     at 8:00am for the following week. If appointments are filled, the following message will appear: 
     "There are currently no available appointments." You may also login to our system anytime to 
     check for cancellations. 

   If you are a Student Athlete, and plan to participate in intercollegiate athletics, please
   click here for guidance from an Athletics counselor. 

   If you are an International Student, please click here to schedule an apppointment 
   with a counselor.    

   If you are a Transfer Student, with plans to transfer to a four-year university, please
   click here for information about appointment scheduling.

   If you are Active Duty, Veteran or a dependent of a Veteran, please click here for
   information about appointment scheduling.

Please schedule a General Counseling appointment if you are not part of any of the specialized programs (Athlete, International, Transfer, UMOJA, Veteran, and Via Rapida). Appointments will be cancelled if you are not part of these programs.

 

New, First-Time to College Students ONLY

You are a new, first-time to college student (did not attend any other colleges). Complete the online orientation, self-placement questionnaire, and Online Advising listed below:

  • Log into WebAdvisor
  • Click on “Students”
  • Under Orientation/Assess/Advising,
    • Click “Step 1 - Online Orientation”
    • Click “Step 2 -  Assessment/Placement Questionnaire” (How-To Video)
    • Click “Step 1 - Online Advising”

Note: You will be able to obtain 1-hour appointment during the fall 2020 semester to complete your (Comprehensive Education Plan - CEP
